FRIENDS OF TENERIFE – AMIGOS DE TENERIFE
The Association FRIENDS OF TENERIFE based in Tenerife was formed in 1993, as a charity organization to raise money to help children and people in need on the island.
We do this by holding events such as luncheons, dinner dances, car boot sales, auctions, and fashion shows. We also host a Business Directory on our website. We have fun doing this, we meet new people and we give something back to the island we are privileged to call home.
Over the past year the Committee of the Friends of Tenerife have given 16,125.60 euros to various charities who they considered worthy of such largesse. We are proud of the fact that apart from administrative costs such as raffle prizes, postage, printing and stationery we take out none of the proceeds from our events.
Recent donations given by the Friends of Tenerife:
• The Hospital Immaculada in Puerto – 2,034.60 euros
•
Funds to help a bereaved widow - 591 euros
• Apanate, for autistic children in La Orotava, 5,000euros .
• Santa Rita Alzeimer's Unit – 3,000euros
• Martha Dos - 2,000euros
• Madre Mathilde Orphanage, 1,000 euros
• Santa Rita, for rebuilding – 2,000euros
• Friends of Tenerife South - startup funds - $500 euros
The membership fees, however, make up the largest contributions and for €10 (social membership) or €40 (Business Directory membership) we think it is the best social interaction possible so come along, join us and make lots of new friends whilst helping those less fortunate than ourselves.
In the News: James Lambert Singers a Success
Almost one hundred people attended the concert given by the James Lambert Singers, who were in Tenerife on holiday but took the opportunity to display their talent. Their choice of music for the occasion was excellent, under the supervision of the lovely Mair, the conductor. “Is This The Way To Amarillo” was of course very popular, there was a cornet solo “When Will I See You Again” and “Chatanooga Choo Choo” all had the audience thrilled and they gave these great singers a standing ovation at the end of the evening, after a total of seventeen songs. They have promised to return next year for further entertainment. As usual, the Hotel Palmeras Playa provided excellent wine and tapas, which topped off a happy evening.

The Helen Jamieson Dress Sale saw many ladies taking advantage of the extremely good value clothes displayed at the Hotel Palmeras Playa, walking away with extra special dresses, tops and skirts ready for the festive season.
The Continental Lunch at the Orchid Garden – November 26 th – is fully booked and on Wednesday, December 9 th there is a visit to the Finca Zirocco for a food and wine tasting. Contact Susan on 922 368088 for more details.
